Even though Chile possesses the world’s largest reserves of Lithium, a.k.a. “white gold”, it has failed to extract substantial profit from those potential riches. In 2018, the country had invited several large corporate investors, including Samsung, Fulin and Molyment, to build factories to produce battery parts for electric vehicles. In exchange for their help in starting up Chile’s own EV battery industry, the firms received a promise of a three-decade-worth supply of lithium. While the plan was sound, its execution was… botched. Now this arrangement is quickly falling apart. Chilean government failed to provide the firms with the bargain-priced lithium that it had promised. Oddly enough, they were fully aware that they wouldn’t be able to produce the amount of lithium that the companies had demanded even before the deal was finalized. An internal memo of the Chilean development agency Corfo dated to March 9, 2018 stated: “It would only be possible to satisfy the requirements of Fulin and Molymet, on the one hand, or Posco-Samsung, on the other”. However, the agency had pinned its hopes on the possibility of a speedy expansion of the industry for a higher yield of the coveted-metal. The fact that this didn’t happen was of course totally unexpected. The plan to increase the production quota from 64,000 tons of lithium by 2020 to 145,000 tons annually was rejected by Chilean regulators. This should’ve been pretty easy to predict, since a production of that scale would strain water resources. After the struggle to provide the agreed upon amounts of the metal, investors started pulling out of the deal one by one, leaving Chile with loads of Lithium that it can barely mine. Currently, the Chilean government is attempting to pitch the same idea again to Europe, Japan and South Korea, claiming that this time around they have a better understanding of the rules of the game.
Left-wing protesters throw a tantrum in front of an ICE facility while also pole-dancing at a stop sign. Just because. Ashley StClair, a conservative media persona, took a trip to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility in Aurora, Colorado, where anti-ICE protesters recently took down the national flag and replaced it with the flag of Mexico. According, to StClair, the purpose of her visit was to show her support for the law enforcement, but was quickly surrounded by a mob of left-wing activists, who called her a ‘white supremacist’. In the heated altercation, captured in the video, one of them even started pole-dancing on a stop sign – a real power move on her behalf.
“MILLIONS of Americans used it” – Chuck Schumer up in arms over face manipulation app Accusations about #FaceApp, a service for manipulating portraits, have graduated from racism and transphobia to a bona fide national security threat, with Chuck Schumer calling for a formal FBI probe. Because Russia is behind it! The Senate minority leader called for an inquiry into the app, which is developed by a St. Petersburg-based firm, Wireless Lab, saying he has “serious concerns” about how it handles personal data. He even wrote a letter to heads of the FBI and the Federal Trade Commission.

The feud between U.S. President and the four-woman progressive “squad” has taken a new turn during Trump’s campaign rally in North Carolina as his supporters picked up a new chant “Send her back.” At that moment U.S. president was accusing Rep. Ilhan Omar of blaming the U.S. for causing terrorist attacks by “saying that terrorism is a reaction to our involvement in other people's affairs,” smearing the U.S, servicemen involved in the Somalian civil war, “minimizing” the 9/11 attacks, and “pleading for compassion for ISIS recruits.” She had responded with a tweet saying: “You may shoot me with your words, You may cut me with your eyes, You may kill me with your hatefulness, But still, like air, I’ll rise.»

Musk reveals brain-reading Neuralink implant After two years in stealth mode, Neuralink founder Elon Musk finally unveiled what progress the company has made on its “brain-computer interface,” designed to combat what he dubs the “existential threat” posed to humanity by AI. During an event at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, Musk revealed that the company has developed small “threads,” thinner than human hair, which can be injected into the human brain to detect neuronal activity. This process involves drilling small holes in the skull, which may in future be done using lasers, for a less invasive procedure overall. Musk boldly stated that “this is going to be important at a civilization-wide scale.” Musk claims the Neuralink device would have 1,000 times more electrodes interfacing with the brain than the current state-of-the-art (but FDA-approved) Parkinson’s device. Neuralink’s head neurosurgeon Dr Matthew McDougall also confirmed that Neuralink will seek FDA approval for clinical trials as early as 2020 for a device “only intended for patients with serious unmet medical diseases.” In the short term, the company will seek to help patients with life-altering neurological ailments and injuries, potentially reversing vision, hearing or other sensory loss, with additional plans to help paralysis patients with upper spinal cord injuries to improve their quality of life and potentially move using their own power again with the help of four Neuralink implants. “This has a very good purpose, which is to cure diseases, and ultimately secure humanity’s future,” Musk said. However, Neuralink’s researchers said on Monday that the company has a “long way to go” before it can get anywhere near offering a commercial service.
Drawing inspiration from the ‘Area 51 Raid’, thousands have vowed to "storm" the Houses of Parliament. 11 thousand people have signed up to a “Storm Parliament” event on Facebook, in an attempt to recreate the recently viral Area 51 joke (although we are still not a 100% that it’s a joke). The parliament raid is set to begin at 10 pm on 10 June next year. However, there is one thing that sets the “Storm the Parliament” joke apart from its predecessor – British regard for their national property. On the event page, users have implored other attendees to be "careful with the architecture, please". They wrote: "I don't mind the storming at all really, oust those f****, just can we all go in slippers and soft gloves? The stonework and furnishings are exquisite." Seems like British politeness remains resolute even when they’re planning to overthrow the government
Joe Biden revealed his game plan for the possible Donald Trump debate The host of the show asked what former U.S. Vice President would do if his opponent attacked his age and mental state like he did before - and Biden suggested a push-up challenge. Later in the show, he went even further saying: "I'm not going to get down in the dirt with him. That’s the only place he knows how to fight.”

“If you take your MAGA hat off it would raise your IQ” Yes, it’s all about MAGA hat… again. Wearing a MAGA hat in America is essentially equivalent to painting a huge red target on your back, as you’re almost certainly going to face ridicule for your choice of political attire. The red cap has basically become the new white hood in the last 3 years. However, this doesn’t impede the ‘proud republicans’ from wearing the hat, believing it to be the manifestation of their right to free speech, which of course leads to more altercations between conservatives and liberals in the US.
