I have a bit of a weakness for Lysimachia. I doubt any gardener could resist the architectural qualities of the two forms of Lysimachia paradiformis, but some of the others are worth a try, subject to the right conditions. This is L. clethroides, a boisterous species which needs careful contemplation before introducing it to your garden. In most garden soils it's easy to control by forking around the clump and removing its pink runners, but this might be hard work in a clay soil. The other thing is to pair this species with another plant of similar vigour; in the herbaceous border this plant has the potential to be a nuisance! I planted three for a customer, using a natural bay in the front of a Camellia bed as a new home; the Lysimachia will have competition from the Camellias and trees on one side and the grass in front of it, so will stay where it's supposed to be! Will look amazing when these 'pointing finger' flowerheads are all pointing the same way, especially with the dark foliage of the Camellias as a backdrop. Oh and another thing, the autumn colour of this species is superb, with the leaves turning bright golden yellow against a brighter red stem! #gardening #plants

I’m going to the doctors next week thankfully. My asthma has progressed to where it’s impossible to breathe throughout the day unless it’s in short inhales, and exhales bring excruciating pain in my chest. It sucks, and my inhaler isn’t helping at all. But! The real caption that’s important is that here’s a video of me stepping into Tootsie’s world. We have six acres and plenty of places for her to play that are snake-free, so I decided to get down on the ground and admire the roads she’s made herself by consistently running through the flower beds! She’s created her own world, which is by far more interesting than this video shows but it’s so beautiful. I love being outside with her. 24th July 2019. The Dahlias I planted last year are starting to get into their stride and this year’s new ones are not far behind. With the weather forecast that the hottest days ever recorded in the UK will arrive tomorrow, I am glad that my past month’s hard work installing it, has resulted in an automated watering system to reach all the plants in our front garden. Cephalanthus Occidentalis; Buttonbush Another amazing native shrub purchased from my local county Soil and Water Conservation District. I'm fairly certain that I paid about $1.75 per plant for a bundle of ten bareroot transplants. They began blooming in their second year and reached a fairly mature height and width by year four. This shrub attracts butterflies with the same enthusiasm as a buddleia, but they actually survive in a range of extreme conditions. I have one in a hot, dry, sunny spot; it's a little bit smaller, blooms later, but grows well. I have one growing in part sun in clay loam soil; it's huge. Others are growing in half days of sun with constant moisture and have formed perfectly round shrubs. I have seen this shrub growing in standing water while kayaking in the local vlae. This plant is a great source of nectar for pollinators, it is the caterpillar host for several species of hawkmoth, and the seeds are eaten by songbirds. You are pretty much harming Mother Earth if you haven't planted at least one in your garden already. Look how fancy! When we decided to by a farm, we had no idea just how much is involved. Apparently it's not just as simple as buying some land and a few animals 🤷♀️ I am definitely learning lots and not just about farm life but about myself and my family. Definitely the best decision we've made ❤
▫️ ▫️ 🌸寄せ植え2回目。 ▫️ 今回はかなり大きめのプランター容器に挑戦。買ってきた30個の小さな花の配置をあれこれ考えながら仕上げました。あ〜でもないこうでもないとやってたら気づいたら2時間以上が経っていたという。かなり没頭した楽しい時間でした。こんなに花が好きだけどいっこうに花の名前を覚えない私。笑 ▫️ ▫️ 🌼I really enjoyed planting 30 flowers in each small pot from a flower shop into the big and medium size of pots.
